Building a deck will give you additional space, add to the value of your home and enhance the beauty quotient of your home. Decks provide you with much needed outdoor space for entertaining. It can be an excellent play area for children and you will appreciate having some extra space for some me time. The basic thing is to get it right when you build it. Not all decks can be used for all purposes, so it matters a lot that you have a clear idea of what you want from your deck before you build it or design it.
Making sure your deck meets your requirements can be an easy process if you know how to do it right. The first rule is that the deck should fit in within your budget. Deciding the specifications of your deck can be simplified by making a list of all the reasons for going in for a deck addition? Would the kids like more space to play? Or do you plan to use if for your exercises or meditation? Will outdoor entertaining feature prominently on your calendar or does the weather make that impractical? Keeping all these points in mind will help you avoid spending money on an investment that you might not feel suits your requirements later down the line. Getting a list of these uses down on paper will help you decide what the design and material for your deck should be.
I am looking to do a project on the side of my house. I live on a corner with no true backyard, just front and side yards. I am looking to tear out the existing fence that surrounds most of the property and have a chain link fence put up on a small portion of the side yard; less than 75 linear feet. Also off the side door I would like to have an 18 by 10/12 ft (approx) deck constructed with lattice for some privacy. Any info would be great. Thanks,
Brian K
Hi, Need a wood, floating deck of 20'x30' and a gangway that runs about 12' from dry land.... Also need a 21'x21' deck that will be 8' on dry land and the rest over water (this one is non-floating) We're looking for a nice wood finish that's not very expensive. Please call me to go over details. Thanks !
